Just a really quick post…I need to get to bed but I don’t want to let this go another day. This past week has been a very off week. Getting to the gym was really hard due to DH’s work schedule and lack of motivation. I am hoping this up coming week is better and started off great with Spin class this morning. It is amazing the difference between spin shoes and regular shoes. Weight is up 1lbs but considering the lack of exercise I am not terribly upset.

My plan for this week is to get back in my routine of going to the gym. All my toe issues have made it hard to stay motivated.

As for my toe it is still numb in certain places. It has been 3 weeks since I stopped running and I need to get back to see my PCP. I just feel so silly going in because of my big toe. I am calling tomorrow to set up an appointment.

My plan this week is to get back on the exercise wagon:

Thursday: Spin class today and legs
Friday: Swimming and arms
Sunday: Spin class
Monday: Swim and Legs
Tuesday: Spin (This might not happen due to work stuff)
Wednesday: Swim and Arms
Thursday: Spin
Friday: Swim and Abs

Next week there will be pics!

This weekend Ant had some potty training regression. On Sunday he had 4 accidents! He peed his pants at church, while playing at the mall (about 20mins after using the potty), on the way home in the car, and then at dinner. By the end of the day I was at my wits end and was ready to put him in a pull-up just for my sanity. Monday at daycare was just as bad because he peed his pants twice and then had an accident at home.

The most interesting thing was on Saturday evening he was AWESOME! We were at a minor league baseball game because my students sang the National Anthem. He went almost 2 hours without using the potty and kept his trainer dry the entire evening!

Monday I resolved to start using a sticker chart to encourage dry days. We opted to give him a sticker for a dry day at daycare and then another one if he kept dry for the evening also. Evenings have been a little bit of an issue the last week. Well, on Tuesday Ant didn’t have a dry day at daycare but he was dry Tuesday evening. Before going to bed we put our first sticker on his sticker chart (he needs 10 for a special treat of going out to ice cream).

Today was AMAZING! At daycare Ant was dry all day and he even told them when he needed to go potty and poop. Then he also had a dry afternoon. It is amazing how quickly his regression has turned around. We are now 3 stickers to our 10 sticker goal. I think I am looking forward to our special ice cream treat!!!

My AP shared a great salad recipe with me and I LOVE IT!!!

Salsa Salad:

Lettuce (I used spring mix)
1/2 black beans
1/4 orange pepper (or any pepper you have in your house)
a sprinkle of cheese (used Daiya pepper jack, this is a dairy free and soy free cheese)
1/2 cup of salsa

Day 2 was a combination of these two methods:

How to Potty Train in 2 days: In the middle of Day 1 I happened upon this website and I used part of this for Ant’s potty training.

Potty Training in 3 days or less: I found this site in the middle of day 2 and I really like it. What I like about this technique is the child will be more independent and tell you when you when they need to go potty.

We started the morning with putting Ant on the potty every 10mins. After my yoga class we moved onto the 3 days or less technique because I wanted Ant to tell us when he needed to go potty.

During days 2 and 3 we left the house and ran some errands. It was very scary going out to dinner with a newly potty trained toddler but Ant did great. We discovered that he was afraid of the VERY large potties at the Restaurant. He did eventually got to the potty while we were out successfully but it was after SEVERAL attempts. We ended up buying a potty seat and have fallen head over heels in love with it. It comes with us EVERYWHERE!

Kalencom 2 in 1 Potette plus. The best things about this seat is it is sturdy, easy to clean, and can be used for road trips and there is no potty in site (haven’t had to use it for this yet).

Daycare was a tough transition but Ant is now consistently having dry days at daycare. Thank goodness for our amazing daycare provider who was on board 100%.

We did end up using M&Ms for a special treat after Ant goes pee or poop. He is also wearing pull-ups for night time and nap time (I hate disposable diapers) but it just wasn’t worth washing every other day for 4 diapers.

Well, my toe is getting better but it isn’t 100% back to normal yet. I hope by this time next week it is completely back to normal. After my toe it is better I am going to buy a new pair of running shoes and I hope that solves my toe/foot issues. When I start back running I will take it VERY slow. It is so important that I take care of my feet.

Something you might know about me is that I was in a very bad car accident when I was 17. I broke my right femur, tibia, and fibula. The muscles in my right leg aren’t as strong as my left and I my walk is still off. Since starting this workout program I have noticed that my right leg was getting stronger. One of my biggest concerns is running is not a good choice but I LOVE to run now. I love the idea of challenging myself and possibly doing a triathlon sometime in the near future. This is my new distraction.

Bloggers I follow that are participating: If you want to join in just leave me a comment, so I can follow your progress too! It is amazing many of my friends and family are jumping on the weight loss train with me. Right now DH, MIL, my mom, and bestie are on the weight loss path. It is great to have such a great support system.

4. Post a (reasonably healthy) recipe that I’ve tried, a cooking tip, a new idea for working out for people to try, a photo update of my weight loss, or anything else I feel like sharing.

Yesterday while teaching I discovered a part of my right toe was numb. I thought that my foot had just fallen asleep. I rubbed it several times to try to wake it up but to no avail. After talking with my Mom (she is a nurse practitioner) about it she suggested I get it checked out. At this point I am not running because I don’t want to injure or cause any permanent damage. I have an appointment with my primary Dr and hopefully she will refer me on. My fear is that I will be told I have to give up running.

About 14 years ago I was in a car accident and broke my right leg very badly. My walk and run have been off every since. My muscles in my right leg are getting close to normal but there is still work that needs to be done.

I will keep you post on how things are going but for now…running is off the table and I am bummed

Pounds Lost this week:

1. Reiterate my goal and where I stand in reference to this goal. (BMI info from this website)

My goal is to look HOT this summer!

My other goals are:

Run a 10K

Create healthier eating habits

Build a lean healthy body

2. Discuss what I am going to do to achieve my goals.

I am using My Fitness Pal to track my calories and exercise. If you would to join me. My username is horn5378. Friend me please! I need more MFP buddies!

My last 2 weeks of work outs have been lacking but I am continuing to work hard.

This past week: I hardly remember how much I worked out because I have not been in my routine. Currently for work we are in the middle of a walking challenge. My co-worker and I are battling daily on who can take the most steps during the work day. Yesterday I took over 20,000 steps at work, swam, lifted weights, and did Bikram Yoga. It was a great day and I felt amazing afterwards.
This weeks goal:

Thursday: Run (training for a 10K)
Friday: Swim and Weights
Saturday/Sun: A spin class and a run
Monday: Swim and Weights
Tuesday: Run (10K training)
Wednesday: Swim and Weights

Eating: Focus on eating healthy snacks. While at work it is very tempting to have unhealthy snacks. As a teacher there are many unhealthy sweet snacks sitting around the school. It is so easy to fall off the wagon. At work it is hard to avoid the snack and soda machine.

3. Try to motivate others to join in on trying to lose weight

This week I discovered I am a stress eater. During Spring Break I was relaxed and it was easier to eat healthy. When I am at work and stressed I stress eat. It is time to figure out some healthier outlets.

After lots of ups and downs over the last 7 years, I believe I am finally at a place of acceptance of our situation. The chances of us conceiving with my eggs is pretty much slim to none but I accept that Ant could possibly be our only child but I am open to many other ways to building our family.

Currently, we aren’t trying but we are not preventing. It took a few cycle to get to this point but I am feeling at peace and can enjoy life without the constant worry about being pregnant, missing ovulation, or even missing my last viable egg. Life is moving and I don’t want to miss out on any of Ant special moments in life because I am so wrapped up in creating a brother or sister for him.

There are still moments where I ache to make Ant a big brother but those moments happen less and less. Just this past week someone commented on when there was going to be a #2 because Ant was being a helper to one of the babies at breastfeeding support group. It is getting so easy to brush off these comments.

With all family building plans far in the future, it is easier to enjoy life. There is still a lot of uncertainty about what steps we are going to take but for now that doesn’t matter. When it is time we will make the decision. The only decision set in stone is a FET sometime. After that no decision has been made.

We are currently about a week into the potty training process. I will be post a recount of our experience. We originally went into this experience thinking Ant would be completely potty trained in just a few days. Yes, he does great but for us it has taken longer then a few days.

The week before Easter was my Spring Break (a perk of being a teacher). DH had the bright idea of potty training some time during my 10 days off. We opted for Easter weekend. The Potty training 101 start Friday and I went back to work the following Tuesday. We had 4 day and hopefully less to get Ant potty trained.

Prior to starting the potty training process, I tried to do a little research on how to best potty train and if he was even ready to potty train. According to some websites he was ready but others didn’t thinks so. We opted to start with my MIL’s advice of spending the entire day bare bottom (just Ant) exploring how his body worked. The plan was to eat chips and drink juice to promote more potty practice. I suggest if you try this find a non-carpeted surface that is easily cleaned. There is a lot of cleaning up pee and poop in your future.

Day 1: The morning started off great and Ant peed in the potty when he first woke up and then we went down stairs for breakfast. We opted for a normal breakfast and then started chips and juice around 10am. During breakfast Ant says to me, “Mama have to poop.” I of course rush him to the potty and he proceeds to poop and pee! Yeah Ant! Also a little while later we make it to the potty. The day was starting off great. The rest of the morning was more pee filled. Later in the morning he peed in the middle of the kitchen floor and afterwards I talked with Ant about how that felt. Also, that if he has that feeling he should tell me and he can go sit on the potty. A few more accidents happened and we made the potty at least one more time. The morning was 50% of the pees and poop were in the potty. The rest was on the kitchen floor.

During his nap he wore a diaper.

While Ant napped I did a little more research and came across this website: How to Potty Train in 2 days. Her big thing was to put your child on the potty every 10mins all day long. This is A LOT of work but I figure lets give it a shot.

After Ant’s nap I placed him on the potty every 10mins. He didn’t mind sitting on the potty every 10mins to much and he realized quickly if he didn’t have to pee that he was done and wanted to go back to playing. If you use this system don’t stray from the 10mins. The one time I went longer Ant peed on the floor (of course).

By the end of the day I felt exhausted but successful. I was looking forward to another day and to see how much he retained from the previous day.

To be continued…
