Ant Update (pneumonia)

Today we were at the Pediatrician again and the news was a little better then yesterday.  She said his lungs sound better but the right side is definitely worse.  Apparently, the wetness was only in the right side.  I am so very grateful that we caught this and aren’t spending Christmas in the hospital.

Drs orders are: Continue with all meds and nebulizer when needed.  Return in 3 weeks to make sure everything has cleared up (I am surprised she didn’t want to see him sooner).

The downside to all these meds and Ant not feeling good are TANTRUMS!  Ant is a very easy going kid but not when he is sick.  I don’t blame him because has to be hooked up to a machine several times a day and take medicine.

Keep us in your prayers!  Hoping this passes quickly.

One Very Bad Day

Today was suppose to be my last day of work before winter break.  My co-workers and I had the day all planned out to sing carols with our students all day, it was suppose to be a day of fun.  Well, last night was NO fun.  Ant woke up several times last night due to constant coughing.  He has had a low fever on and off since Monday night and his cough just wasn’t getting better.  After a night of almost no sleep it was obvious Ant needed to see the Pediatrician.

Instead of going to work today it was a day of going to the Dr.  Our morning started with the Pediatrician at 10:30.  We finally got seen around 11:00 and she said he sounded weezy.  She said it could be RSV, the Flu, bronchitis, or pneumonia.  After a nebulizer treatment we were off.  We got a quick bite to eat before heading to get a lung x-ray.  At this point we had already ruled out RSV and the flu.

Ant was such a good sport.  They put him in the contraption so they could x-ray his lungs without him moving.  Ant and I called it “the horse”.  He was not very fond of “the horse” but we survived with just a little crying.  They read his x-ray and called the Pediatricians office and told them his x-ray was wet.  This apparently means he has pneumonia.  Luckily, it was just the beginnings of pneumonia, so no hospital.

We finally made it home at 2pm…Ant and I were exhausted.  Please send get well soon vibes to Ant.  Hoping tomorrow Pediatrician appointment goes well.
